View the 2024 Solar Eclipse and Discover the Fun of STEM at the School of the Sciences’ Spring Spectacular

March 25, 2024 4 PM

Stevenson’s Fine School of the Sciences is presenting its Spring Spectacular on Monday, April 8, 2pm-4pm on the lawn outside the Manning Academic Center’s north entrance. The 8th annual celebration of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) will feature interactive math, science, and engineering games, live demonstrations—including glass blowing—as well as free ice cream and popcorn.

In addition, participants this year will have an opportunity to experience a special viewing of the solar eclipse. Eclipse glasses will be provided for free for safe viewing of the eclipse.

“Most of the time students interact with math and science inside the classroom and a lot of the beauty of STEM is left to the imagination,” said Benjamin Wilson, Associate Professor of Mathematics. “The Spring Spectacular allows us to showcase the wonders of STEM in fun and engaging hands-on activities. It is an event for all students regardless of their major or comfort level with STEM. This year’s event is extra special because participants will get a chance to view the total solar eclipse with provided eclipse glasses on top of all of the usual exciting STEM games and demonstrations.”
